Obituary

Betty Barrett Butterwick, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away at age 93 on July 31, 2018 in Brentwood, New Hampshire. Betty was born on February 9, 1925 to the late Adrienne S. Barrett and the late W. Franklin Barrett in Joliet, Il. Betty grew up in Joliet and attended Northwestern University where in 1944 she met the love of her life, the late James F. Butterwick, while he was attending Naval Officers Training School. After the war, they were married, and eventually moved to the Allentown, PA. area where she worked as an office clerk, a floral designer, and in real estate.

She was preceded in death by her son, Douglas J. Butterwick; and sister, Jeanne B. Burr Whelan. Betty is survived by her son, Roger B. Butterwick and his wife Susan; daughters, Lynn B. Reinhard and her husband David., and Kathy B. Beals wife of Andrew; and daughter-in- law Carolyn S. Butterwick; grandchildren, Adrienne E. Butterwick wife of Justin Anderson, Dr. Lindsay C. Butterwick DVM, Meredith L. Beals, and Ann. R. Seman wife of Christopher; and great-grandchildren, Kathryn E. Seman, Madelyn E. Seman, 7 step-grandchildren, 21 step-great-grandchildren, and 6 nieces and nephews.

Betty enjoyed reading, playing bridge, bird watching, traveling the coast of Maine, watching the ocean, and especially her sports teams- the Philadelphia Phillies, the Green Bay Packers, NASCAR and the Little League World Series. In college she was a member of Gamma Phi Beta. She was a 70-year member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, and was currently a member of Chapter V, PA. Those who wish may donate in Betty's name to P.E.O.
