Gardner F. Hurlbutt passed away peacefully at his home on January 27, 2017. He was born in Woodsville, NH on July 19, 1928 to Edson A. & Jenat M. "Barber" Hurlbutt.
Gardner proudly served his country in the US Army. Two tours in WWII and in the Korean Conflict earning the Victory Medal and the Army Occupation Medal.
After serving his country he worked several construction jobs and then worked as a blaster for I. C. Reed & Sons in Raymond, NH. He then worked for NYCOA, in Manchester, as a machine operator until his retirement. He also drove school bus for the George B. White School in Deerfield.
Gardner was an avid fisherman and enjoyed camping with his family. He also enjoyed helping anyone who needed help.
He was a member of the Deerfield American Legion Batchelder Post 103 for many years.
Gardner is predeceased by his wife Rosalie S. "Jamison" Hurlbutt and his son Leslie F. Hurlbutt.
Gardner is survived by his son Donald R. Hurlbutt of Deerfield and his daughter Selma J. "Herbie" Bartlett of Franconia. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews, 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at 11am. The service will be held at the Hoague-Batchelder American Legion Post 103, 37 North Road, Deerfield, NH.
