Howard C. Collins, 103, died December 31, 2018 at his home in Danville, NH.
He was born April 11, 1915 in Danville, NH, son of the late Roy Collins and Ethel (Day) Collins.
Howard was a lifelong resident of Danville, NH, one of two children in his family. He graduated from Sanborn Seminary in Kingston where he excelled in football as a tackle and shortly thereafter, started his own farm named Collins Poultry Farm. On October 14, 1937, he married Grace P. Goldthwaite and they enjoyed 75 years of marriage together. Howard ran the farm for 45 years where he employed many people from the town. After farming, he worked for many years in logging and sold cordwood. The family fondly recalled that Howard built all the buildings on the farm in Danville and the camp where they spent so many summers on Lake Ossipee.
Mr. Collins was a longtime selectman in Danville, was formerly on the Danville Volunteer Fire Department and was a longtime member of the Danville Baptist Church. Howard was also generous with his time, as he helped to build the Danville Community Center.
Howard and Grace loved to travel and they even took several trips and cruises outside of the US. They loved dancing and candlepin bowling together. The family will also greatly miss Howard's amazing story telling ability.
He was predeceased by his loving wife, Grace P. Collins who passed, October 22, 2012, his granddaughter, Tami Lee Watjen on January 5, 2012, son-in-law, Frank B. Kenerson Sr. on April 23, 2017, and his sister, Jeanette Maynard on June 20, 2018.
Howard is survived by his daughter, Carol A. Martin, daughter, Brenda Kenerson, son and daughter-in-law, Norman H. and Trisha Collins, a son-in-law, Donald Martin, 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren, his sister-in-law, Evelyn Arnold, and several nieces and nephews.
