Luz (Reinoso) Lamson died at home in Arlington, VA on Friday, February 2, 2018. Luz was born in 1935 in Bogota, Colombia, one of six children. She left home for France in the 1960s, where she worked as an au pair in Paris before coming to the United States. She settled in Washington, D.C., where she met Robert Lamson at the Ski Club of Washington, D.C. They married in 1976, moved to Arlington, and had a son, William, in 1977. Luz attended Marymount University and was a proud employee of the World Bank and the IMF. She loved to travel and founded a nonprofit to help those displaced by instability in Colombia. She will be remembered for her adventurous spirit, her vivacious personality, and the generosity with which she opened her doors to friends, family, and neighbors. She is survived by her husband Robert, son William (Laura McGinley), granddaughter Sole, and siblings Bernardo (Bertha), Amparo, Myriam Wall (Fred), and Alba von Appen (Heinz). She was preceded in death by her brother Jorge.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at 10:00 AM at St. Michael Church, Exeter, NH. Luz will be buried in the Exeter Cemetery in Exeter, NH. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Catholic Relief Services, https://www.crs.org.
