Peter Thornton Ladd, Sr.
Of Framigham, MA, passed away January 13, 2019 as a result of Alzheimer’s disease. Pete was a kind and generous man who will be greatly missed. His wit and kindness will never be duplicated.
Born in Epping, NH on October 30, 1930 to Hester and Daniel Watson Ladd, who were dairy farmers. While he hated cows, he loved New Hampshire, and cherished the State his entire life.
In his senior year of high school, Pete was drafted by the Boston Braves, but chose to go to college instead. He graduated from both UNH and Texas Tech with degrees in Geology and Math. He was a navigator in the Air Force, on B-29 refueling planes. He was stationed in Great Falls, Montana, where he met and married the love of his life, Carol Baker. They moved to Framingham, MA, where Pete worked as computer software developer for many years at Sylvania, MIT and Azrex Corp.
After he retired in 1995, he and Carol moved to their cottage on Lake Winnipesaukee, making it their retirement home. He enjoyed many years of boating, fishing, skiing, and constant family visits. He and Carol also enjoyed snow-birding to Florida for many years where they enjoyed brushing up on their golfing skills, beaching, and visiting many friends. He loved his family, and his grandkids brought him the greatest joy of all.
Pete was an avid Boston sports fan, cherishing his Celtics most of all.
He is survived by his wife Carol (Baker), his sister Barbara Berry, Sister-in-Law, Martha Ladd, his daughter Kelly and her husband David Maloney, Son Peter, Jr. and his wife Amy (Eunice), his grandchildren: Tommy Maloney, Alison, Jack and Sam Ladd, as well as his many nieces and nephews.
A graveside memorial service will be held at Epping Central Cemetery (Main Street, Epping, NH) on Saturday June 8, 2019 at 12:00 p.m., followed by story-telling and Heinekens (Pete's favorite) at the Holy Grail Pub in Epping, NH. (A formal celebration of Pete's life was previously held in Framingham, MA).
Donations in Peter's memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org).
