Richard J. DeCosta Sr. "Dick", 76, died February 4, 2019 at his home in Wakefield, NH after a period of declining health. He was born February 28, 1942 in Haverhill, MA, son of the late Wesley A. DeCosta and Helen A. (Currier) DeCosta.
Dick grew up in Haverhill, MA, one of seven children in the family. On June 30, 1979, he married Grace McKenney and they have enjoyed the last 40 years of marriage together. Dick worked for many years as a lineman with Foss Manufacturing and later as a forklift operator for Malden Mills. Since 1989, they resided in Wakefield, NH and they were formerly of Newton, NH.
Dick's hobbies included going deep sea fishing, looking at historical pictures of Haverhill and listening to and singing music-which in Grace's opinion Dick was a very talented singer.
He was predeceased by 5 siblings, William, Christine, Dorothy, Nancy and Margaret.
Dick is survived by his loving wife, Grace DeCosta, daughter, Debra DeCosta, son and daughter-in-law, Richard James DeCosta Jr. and Pamela Jean, daughter and son-in-law, Ann True and Raymond True, son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey DeCosta and Virginia DeCosta, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, sister, Eleanor, and many nieces and nephews.
A meal will be held on Thursday, February 28, 2019 at 2:00 PM at the Epping Community Church, Epping, NH.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Boys Town, 14100 Crawford St., Boys Town, NE 68010.
