Stephen B. Hayes
On November 13th, 2018, the world unexpectedly lost an amazing gentle and loving soul. Stephan was born and raised in Medford Massachusetts to Marilou (Holahan) and the late Thomas Hayes. He leaves the love of his life, Victoria Kelly Hayes and their 9 year old son Thomas L. Hayes. Steve was the son in-law to Larry and Liz Kelly of Exeter NH. Steve was the brother of Teresa Shannon and her husband Patrick of Reading, Ma. , Michael and his wife Kathleen Hayes of Ft. Myers Beach, Fla, Thomas Hayes of Woburn/Gloucester and partner Lisa Matarazzo , and Laurence and his wife Beth Hayes of Reading, Ma. He was the uncle to Patrick, Brendan, Kelly, Chris, Colleen, Jack Kate, Kevin, Grace and Liam. In addition he leaves his aunts, Sr Mary Ita Hayes MHSH, Sandra and Mary Holahan and his cousins. Steve loved the members of his "chosen family" dearly including his Medford buddies, Kingston NH community, Rev. Kendra and the congregation members of the First Unitarian Universalist Society of Exeter, NH.
Steve graduated from University of Massachusetts Dartmouth with a degree in Marine Biology. Steve spent the early years of his career in marine research for NOAA in Woods Hole Massachusetts. He left NOAA to become a high school science teacher. His favorite career was being a "Stay at Home Dad" and personal chef for his family. In addition Steve loved his dog Tucker and spending time with his fellow Kingston dog lovers at their park. Steve loved being an active member of the Unitarian Universalist Society of Exeter. Steve’s life truly exemplified the principals of his Unitarian Universalist Faith. To quote Stephen, "The small good things you do may mean more than you will ever know".
