Walter Edward Sprague, also fondly know as either "Pampy" or "Walt", 80, died at home in Barrington, NH on October 6, 2018.
He was born September 22, 1938 in Woburn, MA., son of the late Walter Everett Sprague and Katherine Eleanor (Hislop) McGinnis.
Walt grew up in Kingston, NH and he was a graduate of Sanborn High School. He served in the United States Navy from 1956-1961. While still in the service, on August 15, 1959, he married Dona Rouleau. Professionally, Walt worked as a longtime self-employed carpenter. Formerly, he did shoe work and egg farming. They resided for many years in Brentwood, NH before moving to Barrington in 1993.
Mr. Sprague was a member of the American Legion Post#32 of Exeter and the Veteran of Foreign Wars.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter, Deborah J. Castonguay and a sister, Betty Miller.
He is survived by his loving wife, Dona L. Sprague of Barrington, NH, daughters, Darlene M. Glidden of Brentwood, NH, Deanna J Davies of Epping, NH, son Walter E. Sprague of Knoxville, TN, 7 grandchildren including a granddaughter that was raised like a daughter, Sabrina Rose Smith, 2 great grandchildren, brother, George Sprague of Lancaster, NH, sisters, Doris Watson of Asheboro, NC, Marion Marcotte of Plaistow, NH, in-laws, aunts, uncles, and generation of nieces, nephews and cousins.
There are no calling hours.
A memorial service with military honors will be held on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 1:00 PM at the Brewitt Funeral Home, 14 Pine St., Exeter, NH.
Flowers are acceptable, or donations may be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society, 2 Commerce Dr., Suite 110, Bedford, NH 03110.
