Resided in Raymond, NH

Frederick W. Drowne, 78, passed away on January 22, 2013 after a long battle with Parkinson's disease.

Fred was born in Manchester on October 15, 1934, son of the late Paul E. and Lillian (Eldridge) Drowne. He was the beloved husband of Nancy (Johnson) Drowne for 60 years.

He graduated from Central High School in 1953. After working in his father's shoe last repair business for several years, he founded Drowne's Motors in Raymond in 1958.

Fred entered into Freemasonry in the 1950's, and was a very active member of the Bektash Shriners of Concord for over 40 years. As Klunker the Clown, he volunteered countless hours entertaining patients and their families at the Shriners Hospitals and Burn Centers for Children, and participating in parades and clown competitions all over the world. He was also a long-time member of the Royal Order Of Jesters.

On many occasions during his life, Fred enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and internationally with his friends and family. He was an avid golfer (and golf ball hunter), and could never pass by a yard sale without bringing home at least one treasure.

Fred was predeceased by his one brother, Paul "Buddy" Drowne, of Gardner, MA.

In addition to his wife Nancy, family members include his two sons, Robert F. Drowne and his wife Linda Murray of Raymond, and Duke M. Drowne and his wife Roxana (Goodno) Drowne of Raymond; granddaughters Sarah Drowne, Meghan Noyes and her husband Ron, Christine Koss and her husband Ryan, and Lisa Cote and her husband Jeff; 9 great grandchildren; his cat Louie, and his golden retriever Ginger. Fred's generosity, good humor, and quick wit will be missed by all.
