Christopher A. Rogerson, 91, died January 29, 2013, at the Rockingham County Nursing Home in Brentwood, NH.
Chris was born on May 5, 1921 in Richford, VT; the son of Arthur T. and Gladys S. Rogerson. The family moved to St. Albans, VT in 1924, where he lived until he entered college.
He was a 1936 graduate of St. Mary's School in St. Albans, VT and received a Business degree from Bay Path College in Springfield, MA. Upon graduation, Chris began his 36 year career with the United States Immigration and Naturalization Service. His employment was interrupted by World War II where he participated in various campaigns in Europe achieving the rank of Master Sergeant. After the war, Chris continued his career with the Immigration Service and assumed ever increasing areas of responsibility while stationed in Quebec City, Canada; Tonawanda, NY; Mount Holly, NJ; Miami, FL; Madawaska, ME; Burlington, VT and finally back in Florida where he retired as a senior executive. Upon his retirement, he maintained residences in Vermont and Florida until ultimately returning to New England; residing in Enosburg, VT in 2005, and then moving to Exeter, NH in 2007. In 2010 he established his residence at the Ernest P. Barka Assisted Living Center in Brentwood, NH.
Chris married Colleen H. Barber on January 12, 1947, in St. Albans, VT. Chris and Colleen were married for 48 years, until her death in 1995. On October 11, 1997 Chris married Helene Gagne in Sarasota, FL and both resided in Brentwood, NH until his death.
Chris was a New Englander at heart and loved all things New England, especially spending time with his family and friends enjoying the beautiful settings and culinary offerings. He was a communicant of St. Joseph Parish in Epping, NH, a member of the American Legion – Green Mountain Post #1 in St. Albans, VT and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
Chris is survived by his wife of 15 years, Helene (Gagne) Rogerson, of Brentwood; his two children and their spouses, David and Evelyn Rogerson of Essex Junction, VT; and Nancy and Jim Peschel of Exeter, NH; his four grandchildren, Sara Peschel of Berkeley, CA; Aimee Voleti and her husband Rajeev of Bedford, MA; Nicole Drake and her husband Jeremy of South Berwick, ME; and Mathew Rogerson of Essex Junction, VT; four great-grandchildren; Olivia and Noah Drake, Jairam and Vikram Voleti and step-son, Marc Gagne of Buffalo, NY.
