Ann Beatrice Smith 95, died on February 12, 2013 at The Boulders at Riverwoods, in Exeter, NH. She was born on January 14, 1918 in Paterson, NJ, the daughter of the late Michael and Laura (Santangelo) Letizia.
Ann moved to Weehawken, NJ after her marriage to John Charles Smith. The family later resided in Kingston, NY for many years before moving to Jensen Beach FL. For the last two years she has been a resident of The Boulders at Riverwoods in Exeter, NH.
Ann received her BA in Anthropology when in her late 50's from the State University of New York . She worked for The Chemical Corn Exchange Bank on Wall Street, New York, then the Board of Education in Kingston, NY and was later hired to be the administrative assistant to the first president of Ulster County Community College.
Ann was an active member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Stuart, FL where she also volunteered in the thrift shop. She and her husband loved opera and classical music and enjoyed many activities including world travel and golf. Her hobbies were knitting and her family!
She was predeceased by her husband and is survived by her son John C. Smith and his wife Susan of Harrisonburg, VA, two daughters, Ann E. Winter and her husband Bill of Exeter, and Dorothy W. Gaumer of Westford, MA, 8 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews
A Memorial Service is planned for Ann at The Boulders at Riverwoods, 5 Timber Lane, on Sunday, February 17, 2013 at 4 PM. Please check for any updated service information. Brewitt Funeral Home, 14 Pine St., Exeter, NH is assisting the family with arrangements.
