Nellie (Gorski) Cail, 95, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2013 at Hyder Family Hospice House in Dover, NH. A native and lifelong resident of Exeter, she was born on April 5, 1917, daughter of the late Leon and Antoinette (Wszolek) Gorski.
As a child she spoke only Polish until she went to school where she learned to speak English. Later at the age of 12, she learned to read and write in Polish at the local Polish Hall. She attended Robinson Female Seminary in Exeter, and worked for many years as a fancy stitcher at area shoe shops. She was also formerly employed at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard and was a Communicant of St. Michael's Church in Exeter. Some of her hobbies included solving crossword and jigsaw puzzles, watching birds, collecting coins, and rug-hooking. She also loved to spend time with her family.
She was predeceased by her husband Howard D. Cail in 1988, a brother Stanley P. Gorski, a grandson, Peter E. Bouchard, and a son-in-law, Anthony P. Buxton. She is survived by 3 daughters, Mary Ann Bouchard of Exeter, Linda Buxton of Newmarket, Nancy Brewer and husband Peter of Kensington; 3 grandchildren, Lisa Bouchard of Danville, Tricia Buxton of Kenner, LA, Amy Buxton of Dover; 1 sister, Mary Oakowsky of Stuart, FL; 5 great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Zachariah, Joshua, Tirzah, Logan; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be on Monday, February 18, 2013, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, at the Brewitt Funeral Home, 14 Pine St., Exeter, NH. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, February 19th, at 10:00 AM at St. Michael's Church, 9 Lincoln St., Exeter. Burial will follow in the Exeter Cemetery.
