Elinor Mae Doncaster "Ellie", 77, died peacefully, at her home in Exeter, NH on January 17, 2017 after a period of failing health.

She was born May 18, 1939 in Boston, MA., daughter of the late Hollis and Lucille (Elwell) Thompson.

Elinor grew up in Georgetown, MA. one of six children. She attended Perley School in Georgetown and Essex Agricultural and Technical High School in Danvers. On April 28, 1957, she married George F. Doncaster and they were longtime residents in Georgetown and Byfield, MA, before moving to New Hampshire in 1979.

Elinor worked as a cook manager for the Georgetown school system, and was a longtime employee of Gould Electronics in Newburyport. She often ran small business ventures including dog grooming, cake decorating, and popcorn sales. Ellie enjoyed crafts including sewing, knitting and crocheting. She was often found working on craft projects for family and friends. She was a caregiver to an elderly, disabled gentleman for many years after her retirement.

She was a constant loving presence within the family and she was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. In addition to her four children, she raised three of her pre-deceased sister's children. She ran a busy household of seven children, supporting their activities of horseback riding, camping, coordinating activities such as children's neighborhood parties.

Elinor was a devout Christian. She was a Sunday school teacher when her children were small. The Ten Commandments could be found hanging prominently in every home that she lived in. Her answer to life's struggles was to trust in the Lord and she maintained her faith throughout her life.

She is survived by her loving husband, George F. Doncaster Sr., her seven children and their spouses, son, George F. "Buzzy" and Laura Doncaster Jr., daughter and her significant other, Linda M. Stephenson and Thomas Chouinard, daughter, Cheryl A. and Warren Ducharme, daughter, Priscilla J. and Ron MacNeil, and three nephews Matthew Eagan and Wanda, Michael Eagan, and Mark Eagan and Diana, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2017 from 1:00-3:00 PM at the Brewitt Funeral Home, 14 Pine St., Exeter. The funeral service will follow on Saturday at 3:00 PM at the funeral home.

Graveside services will be Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 1:00 PM in the South Byfield Cemetery, Georgetown, MA.

Flowers are acceptable.
