Chester E. Glines, Jr., 87, of Deerfield, NH, died on February 23, 2017 at Maple Leaf Healthcare Center in Manchester, NH after a brief illness. He was born in Twin Mountain, NH, on August 28, 1929, son of the late Chester E. Glines, Sr. and Olive (Graves) Gallagher.
Chet grew up in Whitefield, NH and was noted to be an all-around athlete in basketball, baseball and skiing. He lived in Manchester, NH most of his life and moved to Deerfield in 1980. Chet served his country in the US Army during the Korean War and was a graduate of UNH with an electrical degree. He worked as an electric motor technician at Wright Electric Motors in Hooksett for over 40 years. Chet was a lifetime golfer and member of the Derryfield Country Club for more than 40 years. One of his greatest achievements in his golf career was registering three "hole in ones". Chet and his wife also loved ballroom dancing at the Rockingham Ballroom in Newmarket, NH.
Chet was predeceased by his wife, Corinne (Pinkham) Glines of 63 years and his daughter, Deborah Glines. He is survived by his daughter, Carol Glines Sawyer and husband Douglas Sawyer of Deerfield, his son Gary Glines and wife Georgia Chalogias of Manchester; three grandchildren, Gary D.E. Glines, and Baily Glines Babin of Georgia and Amanda Glines; several great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by three sisters, Alice Boberg of Louisiana, Winnie Jordan of Massachusetts and Gail Pascucci and her husband Bob of Georgia.
The family would like to thank his golfing partners, Joe Bossi, Jack Van Uranken, Joe Capuchino, John Santoline and Bob Deshaies for sharing in his lifetime passion for golf as well as Mike Ryan and the staff at the Derryfield Country Club and also the staff at Maple Leaf Healthcare Ctr. for their excellent care and compassion.
Chet requested no calling hours or funeral service. He would rather have those that knew him celebrate his life and remember him fondly. Brewitt Funeral Home, 9 Pleasant St., Epping, NH is assisting the family with the arrangements.
