Roland D Estabrook, passed away March 12 2017 in East Kingston, N.H. after a period of declining health. He was born September 19th 1934 in Newton, N.H. son of the late Raymond Estabrook and Annie Maude (Thompson) Estabrook.
Roland was a longtime resident of Newton and was a fixture in town professionally and in various civic capacities. Roland and his twin brother, Russell, co-owned and operated Estabrooks Garage for many years.
Roland devoted 61 years to the Newton Fire Department, part of which he served as Deputy Fire Chief, then Chief and Deputy Fire Warden.
In Newton, he also served as Police Chief and as a selectman for a period of time.
Roland also served as a Special Deputy Sheriff, for Rockingham County, Marine Patrol for the State of New Hampshire and as a Firefighter in the town of East Kingston for 18 years.
Roland greatly enjoyed spending time at Province Lake at the family camp that goes back to 1908. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman.
He was predeceased by his second wife, Ernestine (Parker) Estabrook, his granddaughter Lisa Marie Gallant, and a sister, Louise Arnold.
Roland is survived by his daughter and son in law Barbara and William Gallant, His son Steve Estabrook and his significant other Sharon Hannan, 4 Grandsons Chris and Matt Gallant, David and Randy Estabrook , 7 Great Grandchildren, his twin brother Russell Estabrook and his wife Patricia Estabrook and two Nephews, Ralph and Russell Jr. Also survived by Ernestine's Daughters, Sherry, Bonnie, Jane, and Judy their children and grandchildren.
A calling hour will be held on Monday, March 20, 2017 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the First Congregational Church, 6 Church St., Kingston. The funeral service will follow at the church and begin at 12:00 PM.
Spring burial will be in Union Cemetery, East Kingston, NH.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the East Kingston Volunteer Fire Association or to the Muscular Dystrophy Association in memory of his granddaughter Lisa Marie Gallant.
The family would also like to thank Sarah Gallant for the amazing care she gave to Roland.
