Oliver Grove White Jr., died peacefully at home on May 31, 2017 in Kensington, N.H. at the age of 90.
Mr. White is survived by his four sons, Richard Forster of Fancy Gap, VA, Oliver G. White III of Littleton, New Hampshire, Dr. Gregory White of Wolfeboro, N.H. and Kevin White of Charlottesville. He has seven loving grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Maxine Lucas.
Oliver was born in Tarrytown, New York to Oliver and Mary White. He graduated from Syracuse University in 1951 with degrees in microbiology and biochemistry. Upon graduation Oliver began working for General Electric in a variety of positions culminating as a Manager of Health, Safety and Environmental Programs that had him traveling around the world overseeing eight domestic and five overseas manufacturing facilities. His career spanned over forty years and he finished his career at the Lynn GE Aircraft Engine facility.
Oliver was an accomplished sports fisherman and hunter. He loved Cape Cod and spent many summers at his home in Provincetown. Oliver and his wife Maxine loved to travel. Oliver was a great storyteller who loved his family. He was passionate about his children and their education. His hobbies included reading and playing contract bridge.
A memorial service will be held at the summer home in Provincetown, MA. at a later date in the summer.
