Nancy A. Herdecker, 81, passed away peacefully at Riverwoods, in Exeter, NH after a period of declining health. Born in Cambridge, MA, she was the daughter of Grace (Casey) and Timothy Desmond, and grew up in Belmont, MA. She attended Belmont High School and graduated from Framingham State Teachers College in 1957. She taught elementary school for several years in Massachusetts before moving to Stratham, NH where she taught at Stratham Memorial School. She was a parishioner of St. Michael's in Exeter, NH.
Nancy loved being in the classroom and taught 4th grade for more than 20 years at Stratham Memorial School. In 1976, she was one of the original teachers involved in burying the SMS time capsule recently unearthed in honor of Stratham's 300th Anniversary.
Retirement meant summers at the family camp in Shapleigh, ME where for more than 20 years family and friends gathered for summer traditions. Devoted to family, she was a wonderful grandmother to her four grandsons showing them unending love and support in all they did.
She is predeceased by her beloved husband of 52 years, Werner C. Herdecker, two brothers and a sister; Paul and James Desmond and Jean Desmond. She is survived by her two daughters, Lauren Rollins and her husband, Brian of Merrimack, NH and Leigh Brown and her husband, Douglas of Warwick, RI, as well as her treasured grandsons, Alex Rollins of ME, Scott Rollins and his wife, Kassi, of AZ, and Cameron and Carson Brown of RI. In addition, she is survived by her sister, Mary Collins and her brother, Robert Desmond and his wife, Ruth and many nieces and nephews.
