Obituary

Nottingham, NH
William Edward Battis "Bill", 58, died peacefully on July 3, 2017 at the Exeter Hospital. Bill died as he lived-on his own terms and surrounded by those who loved him.
He was born March 21, 1959 in Exeter, NH, son of Edward Battis and Sandra (Jeans) Battis.
Bill grew up in Danville, NH, the oldest of three children. He graduated from Timberlane Regional High School in Plaistow and Northern Essex Community College in Haverhill, MA. Bill served in the United States Marine Corp from 1977-1981 and was discharged honorably as a Corporal. In 1982, Bill was severely injured in a motorcycle accident. He never complained and persevered in relearning how to walk, talk, eat and work. Bill took tremendous pride in professions that were physically demanding and he was self-employed for most of his life. He was a lifelong animal lover and participated in numerous horse shows throughout his life. Bill was very gentle and loving in his demeanor. He was a caring family man who was adored mutually by everyone and most especially his niece and nephew. He had an infectious smile that could light up a room.
In his younger years, he was a member of 4H, Boy Scouts, and played baseball. He lived most of his life in Danville and had resided the past 20 years in Nottingham.
He was predeceased by his brother and best friend, Brian Battis who died in 1978.
Bill is survived by his loving family; parents Ed and Sandy Battis, sister, Linda Battis Wright, brother-in-law, Jeremy Wright, nephew, Cpl. Tyler Wright USMC, and niece, Raquel Wright. He lovingly contributed to raising Gregory and Amanda Holmes. Bill enjoyed his many cousins, friends, and his forever devoted dog, Buddy.

The family extends a special thank you to the PCU nursing staff at Exeter Hospital.
