Velma L. Rock, 104, died November 5, 2017 at the Harmony Homes Assisted Living Facility in Durham, NH. She was born April 21, 1913 in Exeter, NH, daughter of the late Benjamin Rock and Edith (Marston) Rock.
Velma grew up on Park St. in Exeter and lived there for 100 years. She was one of four children and was predeceased by her brother and 2 sisters. Velma was a graduate of Robinson Female Seminary. She worked a long career in administration as a clerical worker initially for Exeter/Hampton Electric Co., then worked a few years at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard and later returned to the electric co. when it was renamed Unitil. Velma enjoyed living a quiet life and found comfort in doing the simple things. She push mowed her own grass, shoveled the snow, was an avid reader and she enjoyed flower gardening. Although she never married, Velma made it a priority to be in the lives of her nieces and nephews and she will be sadly missed.
Ms. Rock is survived by her niece, Carolyn Brisson, and several generations of nieces and nephews.
There are no calling hours.
A graveside burial was held at the Exeter Cemetery, Exeter, NH.
