Caroline Dorothy Pickles -AKA-"Nana Pickles", 97, died November 7, 2017 at the Genesis Exeter Center in Exeter, NH. She was born March 30, 1920 in Boston, MA, daughter of the late Leo Jarvis and Rose (Mayotte) Jarvis.
Caroline grew up in S. Boston, MA and was one of four children. After her high school graduation, she completed a nurses program at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. Caroline was married to Elmer "John" Pickles for 15 years years and lived in Dorchester, MA raising their two daughters. Caroline did private nursing work for a total of 30 years for three different local area families. She had resided in Raymond, NH for the past 22 years of which 17 years of those years were spent with her granddaughter Rachael Roderick.
Nana Pickles loved spending time with her family. She had a passion for painting and she felt blessed to be able to keep driving until she was 93 years old.
She was a member of the Ray/Fre Senior Center, and a former member of the VFW Auxiliary in S. Boston, MA.
Caroline was predeceased by a sister, Teresa Rogerson and a brother, Leo Jarvis.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Marjorie and Roy MacDonald, daughter and son-in-law, Dorothy and Robert Stahler, 4 grandchildren, Rachael Roderick and husband, Walter Lipira, Roy MacDonald and wife, Jamie, Shelley Greenstein, and Gayle Hobgood and husband, Andy, 9 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandson, 1 sister, Mary Whalen, and several nieces and nephews.
There are no calling hours.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Church, 200 Pleasant St., Epping, NH.
Burial will follow in the Old Pine Grove Cemetery, Raymond, NH.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Compassionate Care Hospice, 25 Nashua Rd., Loondonderry, NH 03053.
