Norman "Norm" J. Freeman Sr., 81, died on December 16, 2017 at the Portsmouth Hospital. He was born in Exeter, NH on July 16, 1936, the son of the late George B. and Louise Freeman.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Carol J. Freeman; his son Norman J. Freeman Jr.; his daughter Norma Jean Moreau and her husband John; his granddaughter Jessica Pool and her husband Chris; his grandson Peter J. Freeman; 2 great grandchildren Addison and Mason Pool.
He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and former member of the East Kingston Volunteer Fire Department for over 50 years, working his way to the rank of Captain. He was also a member of the Gideon Lodge #84, Star in the East #59, the East Kingston Zoning Board of Adjustment, Country Pond Club of Newton, NH, and the Wingold Grange for over 60 years.
A lifelong resident of East Kingston, Norm attended the Exeter Area Christian Fellowship Church and retired at age 52 from the Telephone Company after 28 years of service. He also belonged to the Seacoast Post Polio Group.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at 3:00 PM at the Brewitt Funeral Home, 14 Pine St., Exeter, NH . A Masonic Ceremony and Burial with Military Honors will be held in the Atkinson Cemetery on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at 11:00 AM. A reception will follow at the Kingwood Farm, 8 Freeman St., East Kingston, NH.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either the East Kingston Volunteer Fire Fighters Association, PO Box 64, East Kingston, NH 03827, or to Office of Development, Shriners Hospitals for Children , 2900 Rocky Point Dr.,Tampa, FL 33607
