Betty Jane Dagostino, 87, died January 29, 2018 in Exeter, NH after a period of failing health. A native and lifelong resident of Exeter, she was born November 18, 1930 to the late Hugh and Louise (Philbrick) MacDougall.
Betty was a graduate of Robinson Female Seminary, Class of 1948. She enjoyed 68 beautiful years together with her loving husband, Frank Dagostino Jr. During her high school years, Betty taught Sunday school to the children of the Exeter Congregational Church. She later worked at the hospital in nursing care and then privately for several local area families. Once they had their two boys, Betty spent many loving years as a devoted homemaker. When the boys grew up, she went to work with her husband as head cashier with Service America at Rockingham Park.
In her younger years, Betty and Frank enjoyed dancing on Saturday nights at the Rockingham Ballroom. Her favorite dance was the jitter bug. She was very skilled in needlepoint and Betty was active with the Junior Baseball when Frank was the President of the league. But most of all, Betty loved spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She and Frank also spent 22 years, wintering and other various times at their property on Hutchinson Island in Florida.
She is survived by her loving husband, Frank Dagostino Jr. also fondly call “Junior” to some, a son, Gregg Dagostino, son and daughter-in-law, Tony and Margie Dagostino, 5 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 2 nephews and 1 niece. Betty was predeceased by her brother, John MacDougall.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, February 1, 2018 from 4:00-7:00 PM at the Brewitt Funeral Home, 14 Pine St., Exeter, NH.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 2, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
Burial will follow in the family lot at Exeter Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
