William A. Armstrong, 77, died suddenly on February 22, 2018 at his home in Exeter. He was born on April 28, 1940 in Boston, MA the son of the late Adna and Ethel (Stamm) Armstrong.
William graduated from Dorchester High School and received an Associate's Degree from Northeastern University in Boston, MA. He was employed by New England Telephone for over forty years, moving up the ranks as a lineman, security officer, and claims adjuster. He was also employed as a security guard for Phillips Exeter Academy for eight years before he retired.
William loved the ocean, was an avid boater, and a member of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary. A resident of Exeter since 1976, He was also formerly a member of the Exeter Planning Board, and the Rotary Club of Exeter.
He is survived by his son, David A. Armstrong and his wife Jennifer Bean of Grantham, NH; two daughters, Tracey C. Kurywchak and her husband Gregg of Exeter, NH, and Alison M. Ryan, and her husband John of CO; five grandchildren, Jaret Armstrong, Reese Armstrong, Alexander Kurywchak, Carole Ryan, and Evelyn Ryan; his brother Ronald Armstrong of Norwell, MA; his sister Jane Stevens of Weymouth, MA; his longtime companion Kathleen C. Basanta; his former wife Maureen (Brawley) Armstrong; and several nieces and nephews.
There will be an hour of visitation on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 from 10 AM - 11 AM at the Brewitt Funeral Home, 14 Pine St. Exeter, NH. Funeral Services will follow at 11 AM. Interment will be in the Cedar Grove Cemetery in Dorchester, MA at a later date.
