Helen F. Stevens, 91, died on February 24, 2018 at the Inn at Deerfield after a long battle with pulmonary disease and dementia. She was born on December 3, 1926 in Syracuse, NY, the daughter of the late Louis G. and Helen A. (Brownlie) Amann.
Helen was raised in Candia, NH and attended Moore School and graduated from Manchester Central High School. She and her late husband of 58 years, Norman R. Stevens, lived in Candia for most of their lives.
She was very active in the community, serving in the PTA, the Ladies Auxiliary of the Candia Volunteer Fire Department, and the Woman’s Club. She was a great craft maker, creating beautiful porcelain dolls and teaching ceramic classes in her home. She and Norman traveled during the winter, eventually buying a home in Florida and spent summers at her beloved family cottage in Maine.
She is survived by her son, Bruce R. Stevens and his wife Cheryl of Etna, ME; her daughter, Brenda S. Stevens and her husband Rudy Cartier of Candia, NH; 3 grandsons; and 6 great grandchildren. She was also predeceased by her brother James Amann.
The family would like to thank everyone at the Inn at Deerfield and Compassionate Care Hospice for their care and kindness to Helen.
