Obituary

North Hampton, NH

Judith Clair Melvin died peacefully in her longtime home in North Hampton, NH on May 9, 2018. She was born on March 9, 1932 in Kittery, Maine. Judy was the daughter of William J. Darby, deceased, and Myrtle E. Darby, also deceased. She shared her childhood with her younger siblings, Carole and Russell.

Judy married Harold E. Melvin on January 29, 1954. They shared their lives in matrimony for 58 years. During that time, they gave birth to a son, David B. Melvin and daughter, Julie A. (Melvin) Citorik. Those children brought seven grandkids and six great- grandchildren into their lives. Judy was always first and foremost about family. She hosted many gatherings in her home where love, laughter and good food were abundant.

Her love of nature was obvious. She did her part to make the world more beautiful. From the colorful array of flowers and shrubs she tended in her yard, to careful maintenance of her birdhouses, feeders and birdbath. She adored walks both along the shore and wooded paths. But most of all, she adored her family and worked tirelessly to make her house a welcoming home.

She is survived by her sister, Carole F. Woods and her brother, Russell K. Darby. She is also survived by her two children and their spouses, David and Liz Melvin and Julie and David Citorik and her seven grandchildren, Justin Melvin, Christopher Citorik, Robert Citorik, Greg Melvin, Ryan Melvin, Jennifer Citorik and Benjamin Melvin in addition to six great grandchildren, Aria, Ethan, Owen, Aidan, and Bert Melvin, and Evan Citorik.

Graveside Services will be held on Sunday, May 13, 2018 at Center Cemetery in North Hampton, NH. Brewitt Funeral Service, 14 Pine St., Exeter, NH is handling the arrangements.
