James P. Barnes, Jr., 75, of Bow Lake passed away at his home on June 24, 2018. He was born in Providence, RI on April 5, 1943, son of the late James P. Barnes, Sr. and Harriet (Dewhirst) Barnes.
Jim grew up in Smithfield, RI and attended the local schools. After school he worked as a machine operator in the Smithfield area. In 1973 he moved to New Hampshire and worked for Spaulding Fibre in Rochester. Not long after his move to NH Jim met his wife, Susan Stiles and they moved to Bow Lake. Jim worked, for a time, as a self-employed painter, he belonged to the Strafford Fire & Rescue for several years, he worked on the ambulance crew for a couple of years and before retiring he was employed as a security guard. Jim was very good mechanically. He enjoyed classic cars and working on his 1971 Plymouth Barracuda. He enjoyed fishing, following archaeology and later in life became very interested in stamp collecting.
In addition to his parents, Jim was predeceased by his sister, Heather Ellis. He is survived by his loving wife, Susan (Stiles) Barnes of Bow Lake; and his niece, Sherry Nechaj and her husband Michael also of Bow Lake.
A memorial service will be on Sunday, July 1st, 2018, at 1:00 PM, at the Bow Lake Free Will Baptist Church, 530 Province Rd. in Strafford.
