Doris Pailes Dennehy, 81, of Exeter, NH, passed away on September 15, 2018. She was born in Haverhill, MA, on December 11, 1936, daughter of the late Robert L. Mooers Sr. and Eleanor L. (Edgerly) Mooers. Doris graduated as class Valedictorian from Haverhill High School in 1954, and then graduated from Bridgewater State Teacher's College in 1958. She taught math and science at North Reading High School, West Bridgewater High School and Pentucket Regional High School, before marrying her first husband, Donald Walter Pailes, in 1959, and stayed home to raise their children from 1960 to 1975. After this time at home, she returned to teaching and taught English and reading at the Exeter Area High School. She chaired the English Department from 1979-1996 until her retirement. In 1994, not long before finishing her teaching career in Exeter, her husband Donald passed away. On March 1, 1998, she married Charles H. Dennehy (Chuck) and in retirement, they lived in the seacoast area and ended up at Riverwoods in Exeter. Doris and Chuck enjoyed spending time with family, traveling, and and being active. Doris was an avid painter who sold and exhibited her work during her retirement.
In addition to her parents and her husbands, Donald and Charles, she was predeceased by her sister, Joan L. Connelly of Haverhill, MA. She is survived by her children, Rebeccah J. Pailes-Friedman and husband Daniel Pailes-Friedman of Brooklyn, NY, Aaron D. Pailes and wife Gillian Davies of Acton, MA, Dorien Mae Pailes Keusseyan and husband Khoren of Arlington, MA and Kathryn Mooers Pailes Howitt of Akron, Ohio. Her grandchildren include Dakota and Dylan Pailes-Friedman, Ethan and Forrest Pailes and Garbis, Razmig and Vrej Keusseyan. She is also survived by her siblings, Shirley Ann Paone of Nashua, NH, Robert L. Mooers and wife Adena of Bellingham, WA and Richard E. Mooers and wife Marguerite (Peggy) of Potsdam, NY; as well as seven nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to the Brewitt Funeral Home, 14 Pine St., Exeter, NH, for visitation on Saturday, October 6, 2018 from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM, followed by a Memorial Service at 11:30 AM.
