Mary Phillips Davies of Exeter, New Hampshire passed away peacefully on Tuesday October 2nd at age 98.
Mary, who preferred to be called "Bebe", was born February 1st, 1920 in McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania. Bebe attended Bradford Jr. College in MA, later graduating with a BA in English from Denison University, where she met her future husband Robert "Bob" Davies.
As an airline pilot's wife, she accompanied him wherever American Airlines relocated them, settling in Boxford, MA in the 1950s to raise their two children. They enjoyed travelling together, whether by air, land (in their motorhome) or taking on the high seas in their boat. A promotion in 1970, led them to CA where she spent the next 30 years. She enjoyed swimming, reading, playing the piano and walking their collie dog. In 1983, Bebe's husband Bob passed away. The year 2000 brought a move back to the east coast to be near her family and summer cottage. She became active in the Exeter Garden Club and played bridge with the local ladies.
Bebe is survived by her son John Davies and his wife Debbie of Cumming, GA, daughter Diane Wallace of Hampton, NH and two grandchildren Alex and Sarah.
A family service was held at her beloved cottage on the river. A Memorial Gift may be made to her Delta Gamma philanthropy, The Blind Children Center, Melmark New England, where her granddaughter is employed as an Adolescent Residential ABA Counselor, https://ecomm.melmark.org/make-a-donation or charity of your choosing.
